A Look Back…..

by admin @ A Menu For You

Donna and I always love taking a look back at what was cooking in your kitchens in 2017. What menus and recipes resonated with you the most? So before we take a step forward, let's take a look back at what menus you loved in 2017.   In 5th place.........Colorado Green Pork Chili. Tender pork butt and sausage are the base for this flavor packed chili.  Tomatillos and green chilis add the background notes and spices add a bit of heat.  Perfect to serve for a crowd (this would be amazing at your Superbowl party) and, if you're lucky enough to have leftovers, is fabulous for lunch the next day. In 4th place.........Mongolian Beef with Rice I don't know about you, but my slow cooker pretty much remains on my counter the entire winter.  Although, that may change now that I have an Instapot (stay tuned for our brand new category!).  Flank steak cooks all day to melt-in-your-mouth tender perfection.  All the seasonings will fill your kitchen with the most amazing smells.  The rice (or grain of your choice -- my husband loves this with quinoa) is great for sopping up all the sauce. In 3rd place.........BBQ Chicken Pizza Considering […]

Food Trends for 2018

by admin @ A Menu For You

It’s that time of year again! What is the culinary world predicting as the food trends for 2018?  It can be overwhelming to sift through the trends to see what actually applies to the way we cook, so Donna and I have picked the top 10 trends we think will influence the way we approach cooking and eating this year.  INSTAPOT Instapot was one of the most instagrammed and snapchatted gift over the holidays.  Everyone was getting one and posting pics of the easy breezy meals they were creating.  There are a slew of amazing things about the instapot, but the best part is the pressure cooker setting which cooks meals faster and packs in more flavor than most other ways of cooking.  Pressure cooking used to be relegated to professional kitchens, but not anymore. Keep an eye out for this to be a dominant force in cooking for 2018.    ROOT TO STEM EATING I absolutely love this trend, especially with the continued movement towards less waste.  Reusable bags, less packaging and composting are all ways we cut down on the amount of waste, so why not use an entire vegetable?  Don’t discard the fronds of your carrots (fronds are those billowy green […]
