Popeyes Canada: Edmonton Expansion (Win a $50 Gift Card!)

Thu Dec 28 09:37:32 PST 2017
Who doesn’t love fried chicken? I’ve partnered with Popeyes Canada to help promote their latest Edmonton and area expansion, and spread some of that fried chicken love! The newest Popeyes, located at 5000 Emerald Drive in the Emerald Hills Shopping Centre Sherwood Park, is the third to open in the Edmonton area this year. It’s owned by Kyle and Eddie, the same master franchisers who run the other two locations (in south east Tamarack and north sideGriesbach), and it’s part of the same northern Alberta Popeyes expansion plan which will see: At least four more stores open in Edmonton within this next year A total of 20 spots in northern Alberta by 2024 And hundreds of new jobs created for Edmontonians / northern Albertans I’ve always enjoyed Popeyes chicken. Kyle says it’s not fast food, it’s good food served fast. I think that’s a great way to describe it. My friend Taylor and I got to go into the kitchen at the new Sherwood Park location to see the Popeyes process – from battering to marinading (the chicken marinates for 12 hours), there’s a Popeyes science behind how they toss and tumble their chicken- which they get from Sunrise Farms […]

Closed Mondays & Tuesdays Appetizer: Spring rolls & grilled pork balls platter Main: Your choice of a large size bowl of pho! I know it says they formally close at 7:30 but I wouldn’t recommend popping in after 7 just in case they decide to shutter down earlier, as they’ve done in past (lol, sorry. Best Vegetarian Dishes in Vietnam | Vietnamese Food Lovers
Vietnamese Food Lovers
If there’s one thing Vietnamese cuisine is known for, it’s the meat. Whether it’s a substantial cơm tấm pork plate for breakfast, a steaming bowl of beef phởfor lunch, or a crispy pork belly and fish bún mắm soup for dinner, meat is used and enjoyed throughout the day. Understandably, this can put off many vegetarians from visiting Vietnam, but they shouldn’t be deterred. There’s an abundance of delicious vegetarian — or “chay” — meals in restaurants and on street corners all across the country, from Hanoi to Hoi An to Saigon. With so much to choose from, however, it’s easy to miss the highlights. So here’s a list of the top 10 meatless meals you can enjoy in Vietnam. Bánh mì chay No trip to Vietnam would be complete without a decent bánh mì — a Viet/French fusion style baguette sandwich. Finding one that isn’t packed full of pork belly and pâté is a challenge, but vegetarian versions are available. A nice veggie option can include tofu, egg or mushrooms, stuffed into a freshly baked baguette with fresh chillies, pickles and herbs and finished with a sprinkling of soy sauce. Phở chay Traditional phở soup is a meat-based broth often eaten for breakfast, with phở noodles, beef and vegetables. For the vegetarian option look out for the word “chay” and you’ll know

Review: El Fogón Latino: Authentic Venezuela Cuisine
by Linda Hoang @ LINDA HOANG | EDMONTON BLOG

Some of my favourite restaurants often end up being hole-in-the-wall types. Small, family-run, serving quality, delicious food at affordable prices, but maybe isn’t the slickest or hippest looking spot—and that’s okay, because everything else is wonderful. I’d say El Fogón Latino: Comida Venezolana, an authentic, Venezuelan restaurant located at 8026 118 Avenue, is exactly that. El Fogón has been open for about eight months. Interestingly, it opened around the same time as the other Venezuelan arepas restaurant in Edmonton— Avila Arepas on Whyte Ave. I had never had an arepas before I tried Avila in November (see my review here) but now I’d like to have them all the time! And thankfully have even more options, with El Fogón now too. My friend Sharon (of Only Here for the Food) first introduced me to El Fogón just before Christmas. My pal Sharman (of This Piggy’s Tale) also recently visited El Fogón, and raved about it too. (Arepas, corn buns that are sort of like tacos, are gluten-free because they are made of corn flour, so people who have celiac disease, like Sharman, can totally gorge.) Eager to return after my first visit, I brought my friend Gina to El Fogón this […]
