Borgore is back with brand new single – Coco Puffs

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

In the wake of the incredible Blasphemy world tour, Asaf Borger is already setting his eyes on the prize for 2018. Widely known by his stage name Borgore, the man who ruined dubstep is back and ready to dominate the new year. Coco Puffs is what Borgore fans have been waiting for with his reputable sound design and genre-bending techniques. The entirety of the song is a beguiling trek; beginning with a light introduction, Borgore fans already know exactly what they’re in for. Aggressive levels of tantalizing bass lines, illustrative lyricism, and bone-sawing synths amalgamate into a well blended, everlasting masterpiece. “Coco Puffs” calls attention to Borgore’s one-of-a-kind structure intricacy and detail; the meticulous sound design found in the composition of “Coco Puffs” is difficult to find in the oversaturated field of bass music, setting this release far apart from the rest. Out now on Borgore’s very own Buygore Records, “Coco Puffs” is set to be another Borgore classic.

Illenium releases official music video for ‘Crawl Outta Love Ft. Annika Wells’

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

2017 was a career-defining year for Denver’s own, Nick Miller; a year which saw the melodic bass producer release his sophomore album ‘Awake’ (topping charts globally), notch multiple main-stage festival performances, win ‘Remix of the Year’ at the first Electronic Music Awards, and sell out the majority of his first ever fully live ‘Awake Tour’. Kicking off 2018, Illenium has already announced performances at Coachella, BUKU Music + Arts Project, and EDC México, and has just released the stunning music video for ‘Crawl Outta Love ft. Annika Wells’. With over 15,000,000 streams across platforms, ‘Crawl Outta Love’ has been a fan favorite since its release in August of 2017. The video features a series of breathtaking drone shots and thematic elements fans will recognize from Miller’s album and single artwork. Primarily set in a forest by the coast, the journey begins with a young girl and a hooded figure. While their relationship is never fully explained, their connection seems to highlight the challenges of navigating a toxic relationship. The somber tone of the track is perfectly captured through the mystical fog, serving as a visual and metaphorical representation of the multitude of difficulties involved in leaving behind someone of significant personal importance. Featuring the perfect mixture of gorgeous scenery and symbolism, the video thoroughly enhances the emotions evoked throughout the breakup ballad.

Giraffage announces European tour

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

San Franciscan producer Charlie Yin, better known as Giraffage, has unveiled his extensive ‘Too Real’ European Tour, starting on 31st January 2018 in Finland, and following on from his album of the same name. Having recently completed his 30-date North America tour, Giraffage’s 2018 European Tour will see the producer play various dates across the UK, as well as Netherlands, Italy and many more, across January and February, performing at iconic venues such as London’s Jazz Cafe, and Thekla in Bristol. The tour follows his last European schedule in 2016, as well as previous dates supporting the likes of Porter Robinson, XXYYXX and Flume. This time, Giraffage will be supported by the hotly tipped US duo Hotel Garuda. Inspired by groundbreaking acts as Yellow Magic Orchestra, Haruomi Hosono, Soichi Terada, Interpol, and Radiohead, Giraffage’s recent ‘Too Real’ album was the subject of much critical acclaim, with the American combining soft builds with a combination of piano chords, and bass-backed electro synths . ‘Too Real’ acts as an embodiment of the producer’s personal journey of self healing, with each song representing a different period in his life, with Yin adding: “‘This is some of the best music I’ve ever written. The album was written from 2015 – 2017 during a dark period of my life. So finally finishing it was a rather cathartic experience and I’m excited for what the future may hold.” Click here for tickets.

Ladies of Techno You Should Know About

by Shivani Murthy @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Earlier, in most Electronic Music genres, we used to see men usually running the entire scene. It is very rare to see a lot of women who have made it big. However, with the time changing now, we see a lot of women artists emerging from different walks of life and who are making the world dance to their tunes. What can we not say about some of the wonderful women who are ruling the techno scene? Of course, we have the supremely talented Nina Kraviz and Ida Engberg. The world knows about them and how good they are when it comes to their sets and their productions. However, we chose to write about a few ladies of the techno scene who you should know about and who do deserve a lot more exposure and appreciation. Get your headphones out and check these marvelous ladies of techno who are sure to have you dancing! Umfang Emma Olson, better known as Umfang, is also the co-founder of the reputed label “Disc-woman” that focuses and highlights women artists. Umfang saw herself getting recognised and growing as an artist in 2017. She made her debut at Berghain in September of 2016, less than a year after quitting her job managing a thrift store to focus on music. She holds a monthly residency – Technofeminism at Bossa Nova Civic Club focusing on emerging talent and an affection for Vinyl. The Black Madonna A Sublime technician behind the decks, The Black Madonna is known for fluent and dynamic vinyl sets, which span from disco to techno. And then of course, there is her inimitable energy, an infectious joy and ability to connect with the room, which along with her skill has cemented her as a beloved regular and crowd favorite. Volvox A dominant force on the Brooklyn underground scene, Ariana a.k.a Volvox, is known for her tough, stripped-back techno and groovy, acid-flavored sets. She has been a busy DJ and event producer since 2005 and in that time, she has managed to share the decks with many international starts including The Black Madonna, Marcel Dettmann, DVS1, The Hacker, Legowelt and Mike Servito. Inga Mauer Russia based Inga Mauer is one you can’t miss. The music she serves up comes from a place of love and knowledge in equal measures – no cheap thrills, just pure musical joy. Growing up in a remote village in the heart of Russia, Inga listened intensely to early Bunker Records, Cybernetic Broadcasting System (now intergalactic.fm), Trax, and UR recordings which have set the scene for her seductive sound: a mix of blistering atmospheres and dark emotions, flirting with a wide range of genres like Industrial Techno, EBM, New Wave and Disco. This young talent is gaining a fast-growing reputation from Den Haag to Berlin, from Cologne to Tel Aviv, and completing a circle of influence as a desired guest on Intergalactic.fm. Not only a great DJ, Inga is also a truly restless producer, constantly recording lunatic jams and wild rhythms in a world of no musical compromises. Helena Hauff Helena Hauff is a German DJ and record producer based in Hamburg. She is known for her “stripped-down techno and electro tracks,” that are recorded using strictly analog equipment and draws influences from acid house, EBM and industrial music. Hauff, who has studied physics and systematic music science, previously worked as a DJ at Hamburg’s Golden Pudel Club, where she hosted a night called Birds and Other Instruments. She released her debut record, Actio Reactio EP, in 2013. Following a series of releases on various different labels, including James Dean Brown’s Hypnobeat record label, she released her debut full-length album, Discreet Desires, through Werkdiscs records in 2015. Amelie Lens One would be hard pressed to find another artist whose meteoric rise parallels that of Belgium’s most exciting new export, Amelie Lens. She has, in a little more than a year, soared from relative anonymity to one of today’s most in-demand DJ/Producers the world over. Lens’ rise to the top may seem to have happened in the blink of an eye, but her work ethic, composure at the controls, crowd engagement and an incredible prowess in the studio have proven to be the perfect ingredients for her swift ascent to the apex of her trade. it was no time before she began headlining the industries most acclaimed events. From Awakenings and Circoloco to today’s best clubs like DC-10 Lens commands an intense touring schedule trotting to all corners of the globe on a weekly basis. As if it wasn’t apparent after all this, Amelie is just getting going and there seems to be no decrease in her pursuit of worldwide dance floor domination. Deborah De Luca Born in 1980, Deborah embarked on a career in the music world working very hard, starting as a waitress in many clubs and then as a dancer for several years. When she was a teenager she moved to Northern Italy for the high school, started a route into the world of fashion studying to become a fashion designer. But soon she understood that this path was in a completely different direction. Her enthusiasm for the night life in the local gave her the right reason to start a journey that now counts a lot of people who appreciate her for her talent. She soon came back to live in her hometown, Naples, which led Deborah to work on her knowledge of new music genres and trends. Her music in a few years became a high quality brand, a good fusion of hard techno and minimal sounds without ever being common. All of this is synonymous with her passion and strong personality. Today, Deborah De Luca plays all over the world and continues to always produce fresh and innovative music. Rebekah Celebrating 20 years since she first stood behind the turntables, Rebekah has established herself as one of the leading exponents of techno currently operating on the global circuit. Her love affair with the harder sounds stretches back to the legendary Que Club in her hometown of Birmingham where she drew influence from the likes of Dave Clarke, Derrick Carter, Richie Hawtin and Billy Nasty. Every artist, regardless of their discipline, needs to evolve. In fact, it is something inherent within creatives. The need to push the envelope, have new experiences, and share new impulses is deep rooted, and yearns to be nurtured. That is the position Rebekah found herself in during the early stages of 2016, fast forward to 2017 and it seems that the fruits of her labour is coming in to fruition The fact she now shares billing with artists of the calibre of Adam Beyer, Chris Leibing, Perc, Dustin Zahn, Tommy Four Seven, Alan Fitzpatrick and Sandwell District is testament not only to her talent, but the way in which her music has been received by the techno community. Paula Temple A self-confessed Noisician, Paula Temple’s debut ‘Colonized’ EP made one of biggest statements in 2013 for uncompromising techno, followed by remixes for avant-electronic acts The Knife, Perera Elsewhere and Planningtorock. Such refreshing high-voltage output has rapidly placed Paula Temple at the forefront of new techno. Her HYBRID live/DJ sets have become a sensation in such scene bastions as Tresor, Berghain and I Love Techno. Her first full live AV show NONAGON with Jem The Misfit, set in 9 parts, was premiered at ADE 2014 receiving high acclaim. La Fleur Don’t even think about putting La Fleur into a box. For a start, she’s had too many twists and turns in her career to be edged into one particular corner. La Fleur actually started her working life as a pharmacist – but despite her acute understanding of laboratories, her passion was for an altogether different kind of mixing. It was an active choice to make music, and La Fleur chose with her heart – and feet. With a slew of cutting-edge club productions under her belt garnering praise and attention from producers like Ian Pooley and Carl Craig and clubs like Watergate and Panorama Bar alike, La Fleur’s sound is simultaneously house and techno, classic and futuristic alike. She knows how to speak to a crowd and – just as importantly – she knows how to make them move. Playing extended sets as the sun comes up while entertaining and educating is something that La Fleur worked long and hard towards. Not just what to play, but when to play and how to play it. She currently is the label manager for Power Plant Records and a resident at Watergate, Berlin and Labyrinth at Pacha, Ibiza. Nastia Anastasia Topolskaia, best known as Nastia, kicks tarted her career unexpectedly in 2005 in the city called Donetsk. Since 2006 she gained experience as a promoter, stage manager and radio show host. But her main occupation is DJing. For five consecutive years Nastia worked on projects of Kazantip. Since 2006 she has her weekly radio show at the infamous and most popular radio stations of Europe – KISS FM Ukraine. Now it’s her whole project, which includes a radio show, conceptual parties and a vinyl label, which started this year – all combined under influential name ‘Propaganda’. She focuses on mixing as she believes it is what she does best. In her own words, “I am not a producer. I am a real DJ. Although producing doesn’t really interest me – I know that my best skill is at mixing records. I love my hobby, which transformed into my profession and my way of life during recent years. My aim is to see as many people as possible on the dancefloor and to dance with them, leading the mood with what unites us all – music. I am what I do.” VONDA7 VONDA7 is part of a new wave of electronic creation. Her talent in the studio, vast record collection and innate ability to shake up the driest of crowds with her diverse eclectic sets is leading to international acclaim. In a previous life, she earned her stripes interviewing DJs & producers, and shooting videos from the parties in her home town Poznan (PL). Her never-ending bond with electronic music led her straight to the front doors of the very prestigious SAE in Amsterdam, which in turn kicked off a new chapter for her within house & techno. She loves her analogue setup and combines it with digital technologies. She was a winner of a worldwide DJ/Producer competition held by Burn & W Hotels in 2013. She identifies her style as Raw but melodic techno and ware-house. In her own words “I like to mix things up… like a salted caramel of electronic music. I’m tough enough.” Giorgia Anguli Born in Puglia, also known as the heel of Italy’s boot, Giorgia is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. After a classical music education Giorgia developed in a short time a deep interest in the electronic music and she started experimenting new live techniques. From the very first project Metùo she aimed to create a multi-sensorial performance mixing sounds, images and scents. She never stopped looking intensely for the interaction with her public. Giorgia Angiuli also composed soundtracks for movies, commercials and fashion shows collaborating with many well-recognized musicians. In 2014 she became a part of Kevin Saunderson’s legendary techno label KMS, from December of the same year Giorgia Angiuli is represented in Italy by La Terra Management, the agency founded by DJ Ralf. In the last years she released music on many labels as Stil vor talent, Harry Klein, Crosstown rebels, Souvenir, Wow rec., Einmusika, Parquet and more. Stylistically Giorgia’s solo project moves between pop, techno and house. She uses her voice to create a dreamy dimension intensified by the use of unique toy instruments. During her set she combines keyboards, drum pad and theremin with the sounds of toy flute, sax, trumpets and many other toys. Mixing all these samples and loops she shapes a vibrating and energetic groove that sets the dance floor on fire. Ellen Allien Ellen Allien is a German electronic musician, music producer, and the founder of BPitch Control music label. Her album Stadtkind was dedicated to the city of Berlin, and she cites the culture of reunified Berlin as one of the main inspirations for her music. She sings in both German and English. Her music is best described as a blend of IDM and Techno music, which is dance-floor oriented and has noticeable experimental elements. she lived in London where she first came in contact with electronic music. When she later returned to Berlin, electronic music had become increasingly popular in Germany. In 1992, she became resident DJ at the Bunker, Tresor, and E-Werk. She started her own show on the Berlin radio station Kiss FM and created her own record label, calling them both “Braincandy”. Due to problems with distribution, she gave the Braincandy label up in 1997 and instead began organizing parties with the name, “Pitch Control”. Allien created the label BPitch Control in 1999. She currently lives in Berlin. Charlotte De Witte If there’s one DJ about to take the world by storm, it’s Charlotte de Witte. Never shying away from a challenge, always malling her career and music the way she envisions it. And scorching through a myriad of uncompromising, aggressive techno sets across Europe every single weekend. No surprise then, that the rest of the world is calling for Charlotte. After already having toured Asia and Canada, she’s ready to conquer the world. Few DJ’s belong to the group that can work on that level – from the biggest stages to the sweatiest basement raves. Still her heart remains tied to the both the underground Techno scene and Belgium. Having moved into production, de Witte has wasted no time in establishing herself as a serious talent in the studio as well as behind the decks. But whilst a Charlotte de Witte DJ set is guaranteed to get you moving, Charlotte’s own music has provided her with a chance to reveal another side. Her aggressive, stripped-down approach to her own tracks is a testament to that before mentioned dark side, while the tracks also often feature her own vocals. “Making music really gives me a chance to tap into the more emotional side of electronic music that I love. Music that has that melancholic side to it, I just find it so much more interesting, whether DJ’ing, producing or just listening myself at home.” These are some of the ladies whose music we thought you must listen to! Think we missed out anyone (Apart from Nina Kraviz)? Let us know in the comments below!

DRAMA Releases ‘Gallows’ Remix EP

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

A dark and passionate musical collaboration between Na’el Shehade and Via Rosa, DRAMA have become the subject of widespread critical acclaim following the release of their ‘Gallows’ EP in November 2016. A Chicago-based duo established as artists in their own right, with Na’el having previously worked with Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Machine Gun Kelly, and more, DRAMA’s moody sound has been described as soulful electronic combining influences of house, indie, neo-soul, pop and R&B, with ‘Gallows’ now receiving a diverse remix package as various artists work their own spin on various originals. Kicking off the remix package is a soothing, melancholic mix from No Regular Play, who lace ‘Barely Friends’ with down-tempo synth chords. A stark contrast to the more deep-house focused offering from BAILE’s bass-led mix of ‘Hopes Up’. LA-based Kauf takes a turn on ‘Hopes Up’ as well, serving up an ethereal stripped-down version of the original, clad with jaunty electronica stabs. Savile’s ‘Walk Out When You Want To Mix’ of ‘Low Tide’ contains more short sharp stabby chords, to deliver a brooding feel, while the remix packages’ final track ‘Forever Gone’ receives two very different interpretations courtesy of Alinka and Michna. The former opting for pumpy house grooves, whilst the latter focuses on a more 80s electronica vibe thanks to rich synthy chords. Named after “Gallows Humor,” the album is painted with DRAMA comical reflection on painful experience. Here’s what Via Rosa has to say about the new release: “We felt like the term Gallows Humor really encompassed our sound since our music has been described as happy sad music; music that brings you up when you’re feeling down. Heartbreak can be painful and our hope through our album Gallows is that it will help you see the humor when you’re going through the volatility of love. Na’el and I came together to create Gallows as our last letters to the loves we thought we couldn’t live without. “I spoke my words through the lyrics and Na’el expressed his feelings through the beats. Gallows is a DRAMAtic soundtrack for anyone and everyone who has ever felt like the only way to get through pain is to see crack a joke, see the humor and keep it moving.”

Notaker teams up with Grey MTTR for dance-floor friendly “Too Smooth”

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Notaker has made a name for himself through atmospheric, cinematic sonic journeys, but he proves his capabilities as a producer with dynamic prowess on his newest track “Too Smooth” featuring Grey MTTR on Monstercat. “Too Smooth” is a refreshing departure from Notaker’s usual sound, delivering a funky, deep house bassline and lively vocals, a rare occurrence in his prior releases; the lyrics add a playful, flirtatious vibe that contrast against his tendency toward profound melodies. The combination makes for an upbeat, dance-floor friendly track that still embodies Notaker’s sophisticated and genre-less style. Featured artist Grey MTTR adds their share of energetic, groovy house vibes; the newcomer is most well known for their release “Tomorrow Sounds” with We Are Loud & Justin Prime on Armada and are now adding the all-star collaboration with Notaker to their accomplishments. Press play on “Too Smooth” and prepare to get those feet moving! David Nothaker – better known as Notaker – has received much acclaim for his musical embodiment’s of ambiguous concepts, like his interpretation of fire through “Born in the Flames” on Armada Captivating and the vengefully sweet “Retribution” and sub-aqueous “Abyss” on Mau5trap. With each impressive display of his prowess, Notaker is steadily evolving from talented newcomer to vetted dance music prodigy. He certainly has a unique musical style, one that has been praised by fans and taste-makers alike in his relatively short professional career. Inspired by legends like Hans Zimmer, Deadmau5, and Eric Prydz, Notaker specializes in creating an atmosphere around his productions to immerse the listener in the story of his sound, rather than just the track itself. Notaker’s accomplishments in 2017 had his name on the lips of fans and industry taste-makers alike, and we can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for this talented producer.

FelMax and WiDE AWAKE team up for “Take It All”

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

The newest release from Spinnin’ Records is the smooth and groovy “Take It All” from FelMax and WiDE AWAKE. Venezuelan rising talent FelMax draws influences from RnB legends as well as modern electronic music’s future house sounds to produce his ear-pleasing debut on Spinnin’. The track opens with subtle melodies place the focus on 2Down’s velvety vocals as he croons “If anyone can have it, you know I don’t want it” before the breakdown delivers warbled beats and plucky synths that make for a tune you’ll want to vibe to any time of day. The final version of “Take It All” was a long time coming, according to FelMax. “When WiDE AWAKE and I started working on ‘Take It All,’ we came up with a ton of different versions and worked on this song for nearly 6 months. I really thought the house version was going to be the one labels would decide to sign since its tempo might be a little more radio friendly, but this version was a bit more unique and Spinnin Records really dug the vibe we were going after,” he said. “Overall, I’m super stoked on this release and for all the exciting releases I have coming the rest of the year.” Originally hailing from Venezuela, Daniel Mora – better known as FelMax – fled his home country to find asylum in the United States, and ever since has been blazing his own unique path in the electronic music scene. FelMax’s early musical roots lie in underground hip-hop, which still echoes in much of his dynamic style of music. He burst onto the scene with his hit remix of Iggy Azalea’s single “Fancy” that was released on Trap Nation, which led to his debut performance at Life in Color Music Festival in 2015. Soon enough, FelMax was receiving support from Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Bassjackers, Krewella and more influential producers, who played his music at some of the world’s best clubs and festivals. FelMax then released his first major original collaboration “Zebras in America” with Graves, then went on to release several successful singles on Dim Mak, including “Skyline” with Max Styler. His credentials were further bolstered by the incredible success of his original productions “Dough,” which is now licensed to Budweiser for their World Cup 2020 commercial campaign, and “Chapel” on Trap Nation. His recent EP “Hyperbolic Time Chamber” on Spinnin’ was called “one of the most complete and comprehensive releases of 2017” by popular media outlet We Rave You. FelMax is off to a strong start for the year with the innovative release of “Take It All,” and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2018 has in store for him.

Marcus Schossow – Tell Me Why (DMND City Remix)

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

After Marcus Schossow’s powerful version of “Tell Me Why” took the industry by storm, Code Red welcomes DMND City for a fantastic remix. The reception on the original was unbelievable, with massive support from Spotify that landed the record on their premiere playlist: mint. Schossow quickly showed that a combination of his house wizardry and classic 80s vibes can dominate the market. Now, Marcus welcomes in talented remixer DMND City (Thomas Sagstad) to deliver a bumping future house remix. The original version crafted by Schossow followed his typical blueprint: dark basslines, eerie melodies and strong vocals to over 1 million streams and counting on Spotify. DMND City continues that momentum with a bubblier, radio-friendly take that expands the mastery of those classic vocals. Smooth sounds and a lively bassline bring “Tell Me Why” into a surefire hit. Marcus Schossow is leading a resurgence that the electronic music community has never seen before. While remaining true to his classic house music sound in tracks like “ADA” and “Amsterdam,” he is also the man charge of the revolutionary Code Red Music imprint. Code Red represents more than just a label – it is a musical journey and experience.

Tiesto drops BOOM collaboration with Gucci Mane & SEVENN

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Legendary DJ/Producer Tiësto has unveiled his brand new edit of BOOM, teaming up with rap superstar Gucci Mane to form a potent floor-filling mix of his 2017 track of the same name. Long admired as the man at the forefront of electronic dance music’s rise in popularity, the Musical Freedom label owner brings a heavy bass feel to the production, teaming up with Sevenn, as Gucci – a headliner at 2017’s Coachella Festival – laces the release with his fast-bars, and wittily lyricised flow. “My track “BOOM” is already a massive club hit, and I figured that it still had some room to grow with the right feature. I’ve always liked Gucci’s flow and music, so I approached him and he was down! This particular collaboration came together organically” says Tiësto. “What I’ve learned about teaming up with other artists is that everyone’s ear is different and everyone has their unique approach to working with a track. I know my sound very well, which can make collaborations difficult because I’m not willing to compromise my style. But, when my collaborations work, they really work. This track is an example of that.” This cross-genre collaboration comes after the original track’s massive success, garnering over 100M streams worldwide and widely recognized as one of the most supported tracks among DJs in 2017. As a sign of things to come, ‘BOOM’ kicks off what promises to be a hallmark year for the dance music icon.

Raiden teams up with K-Pop sensation – YURI, for “Always Find You”

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Some things are worth chasing, and a true love is one of them. Raiden conveys the message beautifully in his newest track “Always Find You” together with singer YURI of the k-pop group Girls’ Generation. With the combination of Raiden’s energetic, diverse and cinematic productions and YURI’s undeniably angelic vocals, “Always Find You” delivers both dreamy melodies and waves of goosebump-inducing electronica. Whether belting out this song in the shower or grooving at a festival stage, “Always Find You” has all the makings to be a bonafide anthem of 2018. Raiden and YURI also made a music video for the track that vividly captures its youthful, emotive essence as it depicts YURI in search of her lover throughout LA’s music scene. Listeners may also recognize the track from the opening of Ultra Korea’s 2017 aftermovie. “Always Find You” is out on Nicky Romero’s influential and always forward-thinking imprint – Protocol Recordings, and Asia’s premier SM Entertainment. “Always Find You” fuses the unparalleled talents of Raiden and YURI in an unexpected but incredible collaboration. Raiden is an academically trained producer and guitarist, as seen in the music video, as well as critically acclaimed artist who has established himself as a force to be reckoned with; his track “Heart of Steel” featuring Bright Lights was featured in the Ultra Korea 2016 aftermovie and played by David Guetta and Martin Garrix on their radio shows. Raiden’s performances at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Fabrik, Life in Color Ibiza and World DJ Festival have garnered him a loyal international audience. As part of the Protocol family, Raiden will continue evolving into one of the industry’s most esteemed producers. YURI gained her superstar credentials as part of the No.1 girl group Girls’ Generation, and has since experienced success and demonstrated her abilities not only as a singer but as an actress. Her partnership with Raiden opens a new world of possibilities for the South Korean singer and actress. Let us hope that “Always Find You” isn’t the last collaboration between these two talented artists!

Above & Beyond’s new studio album – Common Ground is out

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Common Ground, the fourth studio album from Above & Beyond, is released today on the band’s own Anjunabeats imprint. The album includes the 2017 festival anthems ‘My Own Hymn’, ‘Northern Soul’, ‘Alright Now’ and ‘Tightrope’ and new songs with longtime collaborators Justine Suissa (‘Naked’ and ‘Cold Feet’), Zoë Johnston (‘Sahara Love’ and ‘Always’) and Richard Bedford (‘Happiness Amplified’ and ‘Bittersweet & Blue.’) Common Ground kicks off in cinematic style with ‘The Inconsistency Principle’. Things then move to the dance floor with recent favourites ‘My Own Hymn’ and ‘Northern Soul’, debuted by Above & Beyond at their sold out ABGT250 festival. OceanLab siren Justine Suissa shines on the groove heavy ‘Naked’, while A&B mainstay Zoë Johnston lends her voice to the sun-soaked ‘Sahara Love’. ‘Happiness Amplified’ features a rapturous refrain delivered by the unmistakable voice of Richard Bedford, before a change in gear for the progressive ‘Is It Love? (1001)’. The slow burning ‘Cold Feet’ is another poignant moment from Justine Suissa, with Marty Longstaff tackling the uncertainties of life in ‘Tightrope’. ‘Alright Now’ preaches perseverance in the toughest of times while ‘Bittersweet & Blue’ reflects on absence and abandonment. Stripping things back to the band’s instrumental core, the stunning ‘Always’ is an optimistic Zoë Johnston-led ballad. The title track, ‘Common Ground,’ premiered at Ultra Miami 2017, is a final, thought provoking instrumental bookend to the journey. Stream the entire album here. The release of Common Ground coincides with a tour of the same name – A&B’s most ambitious North American tour to date. Presented by T-Mobile, the tour kicked off on December 29th at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the first full leg of the tour picking up this week. Highlights include stops at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, two nights at Rebel in Toronto, Chicago’s Navy Pier and two nights at San Francisco at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Also recently announced was Above & Beyond’s return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 19 and a Miami Music Week show at The RC Cola Plant in Miami, Florida, with Seven Lions joining as special guest. Sophie Francis – Hearts Of Gold

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Sophie Francis is kicking off her 2018 with a downtempo fusion of tropical and progressive house that will warm the hearts of all her fans and fresh-eared listeners. Her beautifully rich and emotional top line glides over passionate guitar and piano-based breakdowns. The vocals build with tight, rolling percussion into an uplifting chorus of lush, euphoric instrumentation, encompassing a clean, punchy drum beat. Sophie commenced her previous year with a new deal, signing with Spinnin’ Records in late January of 2017. Her first single, ‘Without You’, dropped in February alongside a quirky and original music video. Sophie then followed up in May with a gritty vocal performance for ‘Lovedrunk’, garnering praise as a vocalist of Janis Joplin’s quality. Sophie is clearly Spinnin’s number one female priority, including her on their stage at Tomorrowland (Belgium) where her global fan base gathered to revel at her nirvana-reaching live performances. After her huge debut US performance at Ultra Miami, thousands of new fans took to social media to declare her set as one of the best performances of the weekend. Sophie was officially named by Billboard Magazine as one of UMF2017’s Top 4 Female Performers. Sophie successfully cemented her new status as a festival headliner. Sophie was also selected for the prestigious “Top 25 Most Influential Artists Under 25” by Spotify NL, joining fellow artists, Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens, among others. “When I play piano, letting my mind blow away, it always goes to the same place: St Francis Bay. It has a special space in my heart. I’ll always remember looking down at the ocean, spotting dolphins playing around and whales passing by… This special place in South Africa means so much to me.” – SOPHIE FRANCIS ‘Hearts of Gold’ will illuminate every listener’s gloomy winter season, this January, warming you up into an irresistible groove and state of euphoria.

EEKKOO releases new ‘Forever’ EP

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

EEKKOO, the electronic producer who’s known for his tasteful range of razor-sharp precision and heavy-hitting analogue productions, releases his new EP – FOREVER, via mau5trap. After being discovered by deadmau5 in 2013 and signing to mau5trap, EEKKOO continues his relentless pursuit for perfection in analogue sound as spotlighted in the EP’s skillfully crafted three new tracks, “Punish,” “Lost” and “Forever,” further building upon an already extensive catalogue that spans the electronic music spectrum. “I’m thrilled to be back on mau5trap,” says EEKKOO. “You know that feeling when you get a chance to explore the world and you finally come back home? That’s my level of rapture right now. This EP kinda represents my road away and back and it was a real pleasure to experiment with my friend Lun_R on some of the tracks. We are not alone!” The Canada-based producer, who integrated his sound engineering background to create his signature style, made the jump to global recognition in 2012 when he was discovered on Soundcloud by the notorious deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) and became the first artist he ever followed on the platform. A succession of EPs and singles on his label over the next two years culminated in EEKKOO’s sonic coup de force: 2014’s Hell Is Other People, a five-track offering that rocked the iTunes and Beatport charts before being named in the Top 25 Dance Releases of the year by iTunes. FOREVER follows EEKKOO’s three-year hiatus from mau5trap and it sounds like he’s right at home continuing to experiment and break new sonic ground.

AFSHeeN & Rebecca Ferguson deliver an impactful acoustic edition of Uncrazy

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

AFSHeeN and Rebecca Ferguson’s late 2017 collaborative success ‘Uncrazy’ has received the full span of attention it deserves, experiencing massive success upon the release of the original mix followed up by an emotional lyric video. The powerful, soulful edition of the release makes its way to the masses via Dirty Soul & Be Yourself Music and is available now on your listening platform of choice. Listen to it here. In contrast to the original mix’s smooth, swift dance floor rhythms, the acoustic edition of the track showcases the true strength of Rebecca Ferguson’s vocal talent complimented by a melodic piano accompaniment AFSHeeN. Zedd finally releases his highly anticipated single ‘The Middle’ with Grey and Maren Morris

by Ranjiv Asher @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

About 2 weeks back, popular German DJ/producer, Zedd teased fans with an insanely short clip of his new track. The teaser was so catchy and short that fans couldn’t wait for this release. The track is titled ‘The Middle’ and is finally out now. This track sees Zedd reunite with Grey after his earlier collaboration ‘Starving’. As an icing on the cake, Grammy Awarding winning singer Maren Morris lends her voice for the vocals of this track. Zedd’s signature synths, Maren Morris’ brilliant vocals and the percussions along with the clock ticking beat make ‘The Middle’ a strong contender to become the next electro pop hit on the charts after his last year’s hit release with Alessia Cara ‘Stay’. Although some fans may have expected Zedd to go back to his original EDM focused production, he has stuck to his recent electro pop production, which makes this track sound very similar to ‘Stay’. However, we are sure that when this track plays on the radio, it’s melody and vocals are going to be stuck in your head for a long time. This is what Zedd had to say about the release, “We worked really hard on this record to get it just right and it feels great to be able to finally share it with you all. It was super fun working with Maren Morris because she is clearly an amazing singer and very talented musician. And I always love working with Grey because we push ourselves to make the best music possible and the end result is incredible.” He also added, “I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I want to know what you think, so send me a tweet or post a video of you listening to it on Instagram with #TheMiddle.” Watch the lyric video of ‘The Middle’ below: Spotify users, grab the track here.

Corey James teams up with David Pietras on new single – Arlanda

by admin @ T.H.E – Music Essentials

Fast-rising UK talent Corey James has collaborated with highly-rated Swedish producer David Pietras to deliver anthemic new production Arlanda on Steve Angello’s label, SIZE Records. With a rumbling build-up soon giving way to a groove-led breakdown, Corey and David inject hip-swaying chords into the track’s second build, with an electrifying drop towards the tail end of the record solidifying the production as a true club selection, primed for dancefloors worldwide. With both artists making huge strides in their careers over the past 12 months, the release of ‘Arlanda’ follows David Pietras’ recent Sebjak collab ‘Soleil’, a tribal production layered by progressive chords, and serves as the follow up to David’s critically acclaimed ‘Dreams’ EP. Liverpool-based DJ and producer Corey James’ reputation continues to soar within the dance industry, with his menacing synth patterns and festival-ready basslines adding real character to the Brit’s productions. Having supported Third Party at their Ministry of Sound showcase evening, followed by a legendary Printworks performance alongside Kryder, and his mentor, and SIZE boss, Steve Angello at the tail-end of 2017, this year is shaping up to be the biggest of Corey’s career so far, with the ‘Back In Time’ producer adding: “Watching Steve Angello perform for the first time is what motivated me to become a DJ/Producer and pursue a career in music. So I feel very honoured to be part of the label and the SIZE family.” ‘Arlanda’ showcases the evolution of two of dance music’s most hotly-tipped acts, and is set for release on 26th January 2018.
